The Office of National Statistics indicates that the population of Brighton and Hove is around 250,000 persons.
What is the big attraction of Brighton? The answer is undoubtedly different for everyone, but it has a fantastic seafront location, a wide range of shops, restaurants and many, many bars and coffee shops. Only 55 minutes from London by train and with excellent road links to London and beyond, as well as being within easy reach of London airports.
If you are visiting Brighton, Spark and Sons highly recommend buying a Brighton A-Z street atlas of the City. These are available from most local petrol stations or newsagents for about £5.00 and are also available online from Amazon and will help you locate where you are and where you need to get to, as you come to grips with Brightons many twitterns.
The Traffic Wardens in Brighton are really efficient at their jobs, so make sure you do not park illegally and ALWAYS pay and display. Avoid being late back to your vehicle. Watch out not to park in the residents zones, which are marked on poles in front of the parking bays. Check and double check to make sure you park legally. The tickets when issued are £30.00 increasing to £60.00 if not paid within a number of days.
Car crime in Brighton seems to be quite low, but we have started to notice the odd smashed glass window once in a while. Make sure you do not leave any valuables - particularly on display - in your car.
Keep a lookout out for pedestrians in Brighton, some just walk out into the street without seeming to look if any vehicle is approaching. This is quite common around the centre. Brighton pedestrians can then saunter very slowly across the road, so watch out!
